Kraken Sense Partners with the Toronto Airport Authority to Combat COVID-19

Kraken Sense is proud to be partnering with the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) as part of a study funded by the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP). Together, we are conducting tests on airport wastewater for Monkeypox and Omicron, a variant of SARS-CoV-2.

While traditional PCR technology can have a turnaround period of multiple days, Kraken Sense has taken revolutionary strides in pathogen detection, delivering quantitative results in under an hour. With the constant ebb-and-flow of travelers in the airport, rapid pathogen detection is key to controlling disease outbreaks from outside the country.

At Kraken Sense, we are constantly looking for opportunities to improve public health and safety through innovative technology. Our KRAKEN pathogen detection device is fully autonomous, using real-time PCR technology to monitor liquid-based samples for bacteria and viruses. With the ability to identify specific variants, this collaboration with GTAA has the potential to make a real impact on disease monitoring globally.

Early detection is key, and our technology provides quick and accurate identification of multiple COVID-19 strains through wastewater monitoring. KRAKEN is the first real-time pathogen detection platform that can provide continuous monitoring for potential pathogen surges, keeping our borders safe and secure against emerging disease outbreaks.

We couldn't be more proud to be part of this initiative with the GTAA and to play a role in ensuring our safety as Canada's airports return to full capacity. Our mission is to make pathogen detection quick, easy, and accessible for everyone, and this partnership is a step towards making that a reality.

Stay tuned for updates on this exciting project!

About Kraken Sense

Kraken Sense develops all-in-one pathogen detection solutions to accelerate time to results by replacing lab testing with a single field-deployable device. Our proprietary device, the KRAKEN, has the ability to detect bacteria and viruses down to 1 copy/mL. It has already been applied for epidemiology detection in wastewater and microbial contamination testing in food processing, among many other applications. Our team of highly-skilled Microbiologists and Engineers tailor the system to fit individual project needs.
