Ontario Genomics’ BioCreate program, funded by FedDev Ontario, offers support to businesses innovating genomics and bioengineering technologies in the health, food and agriculture, and cleantech sectors. By helping these businesses become more competitive, innovative, and productive, FedDev creates opportunities for economic growth in Southern Ontario, developing and diversifying local economies. We had the great pleasure of connecting with and learning from other participants in the BioCreate program, including:

The SynBio 2023 conference provided a platform for industry leaders, scientists, and investors to come together and explore the latest advancements in synthetic biology and its diverse applications. SynBio aims to establish Canada as a leading hub for synthetic biology research and development, using genetic engineering and biotechnology to build resilience in Canada’s supply chains and ecosystems. Synthetic biology offers immense potential to address environmental challenges and drive sustainable economic growth, enhancing resource efficiency, promoting biodiversity, and mitigating the impact of climate change.

We are thrilled to be part of this vibrant community of scientists, industry experts, and policymakers who share our enthusiasm for harnessing synthetic biology to create a more sustainable and resilient future. Attending the SynBio conference has provided us with invaluable opportunities and insights into emerging technology, fueling our excitement for the transformative potential of synthetic biology in Canada.

The recognition we received at the SynBio 2023 conference is a testament to the groundbreaking work we are doing at Kraken Sense. Our mission is to provide innovative solutions for critical challenges plaguing agriculture, food, and water industries. By proactively monitoring risks and streamlining the DNA extraction process, our technology saves precious time and resources, promoting food safety and building resilience within the supply chain. We are excited about the impact our technologies can have in ensuring food and water safety, enhancing efficiency, and building a more sustainable future.

About Kraken Sense

Kraken Sense develops all-in-one pathogen detection solutions to accelerate time to results by replacing lab testing with a single field-deployable device. Our proprietary device, the KRAKEN, has the ability to detect bacteria and viruses down to 1 copy/mL. It has already been applied for epidemiology detection in wastewater and microbial contamination testing in food processing, among many other applications. Our team of highly-skilled Microbiologists and Engineers tailor the system to fit individual project needs.
